Our Roots

Green Waste Management Services started in the year 2,000 when Martin bought himself a shredding machine and ‘Green Waste Management Services’, the company, exploded into life. He began to shred and compost green waste for the local authority which soon expanded into shredding contracts all around the country. The purchase of Morton Farm offered a base to store the regularly updated heavy machinery and vehicles. As a result, Green Waste Management Services opened a green waste recycling site there. Regular, long term contracts followed with various organisations including Hampton Court Palace and MOD sites.

In 2008, Cotswold Eco Fuels came into being when Martin acquired the largest wood chipper in the UK at that time. Cotswold Eco Fuels started to travel to big estates to do wood chipping on site. At the same time, the company also became a reliable provider and distributor of wood chip for biomass boilers. Cotswold Eco Fuels acquired four biomass boilers of their own to provide sustainable heating for the buildings at the site, and for drying wood chip.

Green Waste has come out of many years of operating two sister companies, Cotswold Eco Fuels and Green Waste Management Services. Both of these companies existed to promote sustainable living. And now, Green Waste has been birthed with the key aim of transforming waste materials into sustainable products to renew, re-use and reclaim.

Green Waste Management Services became experts in onsite shredding and screening. After processing clients’ green waste for them, Green Waste Management give clients options as to how they wanted their waste to be re-used.

For some years now, Green Waste Management Services and Cotswold Eco Fuels have operated from the Morton Farm Disposal site. This is where the waste wood and other green waste brought in by landscape gardeners is processed. This waste is then converted into a number of saleable products for commercial use.

Now, in 2021, Green Waste is bringing together the best of the two companies to form a new business with sustainability at its heart. Using the expertise that we have gained over the years, we are looking to a brighter future offering practical help to organisations who want to bring sustainable practices into their every day operations. For some, this might be simply by using our disposal site (incidentally the cheapest in the area for green waste). For others, it might be for advice on installation of a biomass boiler or the processing and recycling of large amounts of green waste on their own premises.

Some of our customers over the years (and up to the present day) have included The National Trust, Hampton Court Palace, Tivoli, MOD sites, Nurture Landscapes, Bristol and Bath Science Parks, South Gloucestershire Council, Nailsea School, Bristol Zoo, Cory Environmental, Glastonbury Festival, BIFFA, SITA, Thornbury Community Composting Site, Thornbury Town Council and Christmas Trees for Bristol West.
